Is it legal for Alejandro Garnacho to become a father at 18?

At just 18 years old, Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho is set to become a father. Garnacho, a forward for Manchester United, has been bombarded with positive news for several days. He revealed that his contract with Manchester United has been extended through 2028. The youngster took to his official social media platform to announce the arrival of his first child.

Garnacho will be having a son at just 18 years old with partner Eva Garcia. It is legal for him to become a father at 18 given the fact that the UK marriage age at the minimum is the same. Considering he plays for Manchester United, he is unlikely to have any legal issues for having a child with his partner.

The youngster, who joined United as a 16-year-old in 2020, announced that their child will be called Enzo. He wrote: ‘Where life begins, and love never ends. Planning your arrival and knowing you’re going to be here to complete our lives fills us with love and excitement.”

The Argentine is currently sidelined after an injury and is likely to miss out the rest of the season. Manchester United faces Brighton on Thursday in their pursuit of maintaining a Champions League Spot. Having won the Carabao Cup already, The Red Devils will hope for another silverware after qualifying for the FA Cup final where they face cross-city rivals Manchester City.

Three Manchester United stars competing with Alejandro Garnacho for the iconic No.7 shirt

Manchester United are likely to have a new number seven in their ranks next season after the jersey became vacant when Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in November 2022. There is still the potential for a new signing to take the jersey in the summer, but several current Reds will already have their eye on it.

It is a famous shirt at Old Trafford, and like it or not, the player who takes on the digit will be under more scrutiny than they would be with any other number on their back. However, pressure is certainly a privilege and whoever does take it on will be the latest in a long line of players to don the infamous jersey.

One of the first-team stars that have been heavily tipped to be handed the number is Alejandro Garnacho. The 18-year-old Argentine signed a new five-year contract on Friday, committing his future to the club until 2028. If Jadon Sancho would have enjoyed a more productive campaign, he would probably be the leading candidate to take on the number seven jersey. Antony certainly possesses the flair required and has enjoyed a better season than Sancho, so if it is indeed a competition, he might fancy his chances to win.
